Big news! Introducing… Narrow Skies

A lot has been happening in recent months and now that it is fully formed, we thought it time to bring you this exciting news!

But first a bit of background…

• – As you may have noticed over the past few years, the music that we release as Salt of the Sound has been stylistically broad…
• – You may also be aware we’ve been working on a ‘Seasons’ project for some time now, and through the writing and production of this the music has evolved to really have its own distinct ‘sound’ which we are thrilled about.
• – And on top of that we’ve been having a few issues with Spotify lately (a number of Salt of the Sound albums were almost taken down for reasons outside our control), which was a timely reminder that diversifying musical output is always a good thing!

Long story short, this has led us to taking a step that we have been thinking about for a while and now feels like a great time to add a new sub-project to the Salt of the Sound family…

This new project is called *drumroll please* … Narrow Skies!

We describe the sound as Nordic-inspired, nature-infused, reflective dream pop… Organic soundscapes combine with electronic elements to evoke images of the natural world; from shimmering lakes to the hidden depths of the forest, and the extremes of winter’s icy grasp to the land of the midnight sun.

And we will be releasing our first EP as Narrow Skies on 26th May! Have a listen to a preview of a track from the EP here.

So what does this mean for Salt of the Sound?
(Don’t worry – Salt of the Sound is not going anywhere!!)

Salt of the Sound will continue to be all about reflective Christian songs and instrumental worship music, which has always been our aim – and we are already working a Prayer-focused EP, scheduled for release at some point this Autumn! We’re also excited to be expanding our ‘Meditations’ series to include some exciting collaborations with other Christian ambient producers.
