Christian meditation music & prayer music | Salt Of The Sound

90+ minutes of Christian meditation music & prayer music

For a while we’ve been compiling a selection of our favourite Christian music for times of meditation, reflection, and prayer, and thought it might be nice to share this with you. The majority of the meditation music is by inspiring Christians artists and bands who we love listening to, and a few of the songs are from our recent instrumental album, Meditations Vol. 2.

If you have any suggestions for additional meditation or prayer music, we’d love for you to let us know in the comment box at the bottom of the article.

You can either listen to all of these songs on our 90-minute Spotify playlist, Christian Meditation & Prayer Music, (there’s a special 4-hour extended Spotify playlist here too), or get hold of them via the links below.

Our favourite Christian meditation music (in no particular order…)

1. Carinthia - All My Fountains Are In You
Genre: Ambient
A beautiful and meditative meshing together of piano, guitar and organic soundscapes, the music of Carinthia is both calming and musically enchanting. Perfect for as a background to prayer, reflection and meditation.

3. Tony Anderson - Ember & Spiriteaux

5. Port Blue - The Albatross (EP)

Port Blue is a side project of Adam Young (better known as Owl City) - this ambient release is a beautiful introduction to a more meditational side of his music making. Highly recommended.

6. In Cathedrals - Reverie
Genre: Ambient/Post-rock
Beautifully evocative, In Cathedrals write that their music is 'inspired by a desire to create beauty and experience the God who makes all things beautiful.' This is certainly apparent in Reverie. We look forward to new music from this exciting duo!

7. Parachute Band - *Consecrate*
Genre: Instrumental
While the rest of the Matins: Vespers album can't really be regarded as 'meditation' music, *Consecrate* by Parachute Band certainly warrants a place in any selection of reflective instrumental music. A beautiful piano performance with a gentle backing synth - perfect to foster a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

NEW! 8. Simon Wester - Rest
Genre: Ambient
Rest is a beautiful and reflective piano-based track from Simon Wester's 2016 Heaven and Earth album. Soft and mellow, and simultaneously uplifting - a great accompaniment for times of meditation or prayer.

UPDATED! 9. Sleeping At Last - Atlas: Year One
Genre: Alternative
We've featured the diverse and beautiful music of Sleeping At Last before in our a few of our other playlists. This album, Atlas: Year One, is compiled of 30 songs, not all of which are as meditative as Moon and Uranus - which we've included in our Spotify playlist - but all well worth checking out!

10. Bayside Worship - Selah
Genre: Instrumental
Just the one song from Bayside Worship concludes this list of our favourite Christian meditation music, and it's a beautiful instrumental piece that invites the listener into a time of reflection and contemplation. Don't miss it!

We really hope you have found or will find this music to be helpful in times of meditation and prayer. If you have any other suggestions (or maybe you write meditative music yourself), do let us know below!
